2rog is leading the work on terrestrial biodiversity offsets in the Greater Darwin region employing a variety of leading practise methods to design and implement a suite of offsets that actually work. We have undertaken detailed analysis of the conservation and recovery needs of a number of threatened flora and fauna species and are now developing an offsets strategy that will bring these to life at dedicated offsets locations. Uncertainty about how to achieve and sustain enhanced ecological outcomes for the species is a key risk. We are addressing this via ongoing collaboration with a panel of scientific experts during the offsets design phase and plan to embed the experts during offsets delivery. This will help both to adaptively manage the offset sites and to continue furthering our understanding of tropical ecosystems and how to conserve and recover them.
