Unlike most other capital cities in Australia, the Darwin region still retains much of its remnant bushland.  2rog is working with the Northern Territory government to develop strategies to proactively find a balance between economic development and biodiversity conservation.  To do this we developed stage one of a Regional Conservation Plan for terrestrial biodiversity in the Greater Darwin region.  The initial stage sets out what the cumulative development pressures on biodiversity values look like and what a response may be, using both spatial planning techniques, conservation science and a series of workshops with government stakeholders.  The stage one plan includes a forward work program to progress the Regional Conservation Plan, including further data gathering and analysis, wider stakeholder consultation and developing governance arrangements of the Plan’s implementation.
