2rog is working with BHP to support them in implementing their nature positive targets of having at least 30% of the land they steward under conservation, restoration or regenerative practises by 2030.  Given the scale (6 million hectares) and national extend of landholding, this work is complex and includes a variety of approaches.  2rog is currently writing Minerals Australia’s Biodiversity Strategy, which will leverage off previous spatial analysis we undertook looking at the entire BHP estate prioritising areas for conservation, restoration and regenerative practises. We have previously undertaken detailed analysis of conservation priorities and projects in Queensland and South Australia that could be supported by BHP’s social investment programs, which resulted in direct investment in a restoration program in SE Qld.  We are also supporting the development and role out of BHP’s Nature Positive Plans and natural capital accounting approach.
